This policy explains what personal data TechAnnouncer collects, why, and the choices you have. It covers readers, newsletter subscribers, members who publish with us, and people we correspond with.
1. Who we are
TechAnnouncer.com (“TechAnnouncer”, “we”, “us”) is a technology news, press release and company-signals publication based in the United Kingdom. It is published by Rich Media Network Ltd, a company registered in England and Wales, which is the data controller for personal data collected through this website. We process personal data in line with the UK GDPR and the Data Protection Act 2018.

2. The data we collect
If you create an account
- Account details: your name, email address and password (stored only in encrypted, hashed form), and the account type you choose.
- Profile: anything you add to your profile, such as job title, company name, company website, the topics you follow and an optional profile photo.
- Membership and purchases: your plan, billing status, renewal dates, the credits you hold and use, and a record of your purchases and any promotional offer applied.
- Your activity in the workspace: saved searches and alerts, and the drafts, scheduled posts and published posts in your account.
If you publish with us
- Content you submit: press releases, articles, headlines, summaries, bylines, tags and the images you upload to your media library, together with the dates you save, schedule, edit or publish them.
- Review information: the results of our automated publishing checks (for example word count, links and signs of promotional or high-risk content) and any notes from our editors.
If you pay us
Payments are handled by Stripe. We never see or store your full card details. Stripe shares with us your customer reference, billing name and address, email address, any tax ID you provide, and the status of your payments and subscriptions.
If you subscribe to the Morning Signal or other emails
Your email address, your name if you give it, your subscription preferences, and whether our emails are delivered, opened or clicked.
If you contact us, comment or correspond with us
Your name, email address, company details and the content of your messages or comments. For comments, we also record your IP address to help prevent spam.
Technical data
Your IP address, browser and device information, the pages you view, the site that referred you, and security logs. These are collected automatically through server logs, cookies and similar technologies (see section 5).

We do not sell your personal data.
4. What is public
When you publish on TechAnnouncer, the post is public. So are the name or company shown in its byline, your author profile (name, profile photo and any biography) and the images used in the post. Published posts may also be shown by search engines and by news services that carry our articles, such as Apple News. Your media library, drafts, account details and billing information are private to you and our staff.
5. Cookies and similar technologies
Essential
These are needed for the site to work, so they don’t need consent:
- Sign-in cookies that keep you logged in to your account and protect forms against misuse.
- An offer cookie (
tas_promo) that remembers a promotional code from a link you followed, for up to 45 days, so it is applied at checkout. - A setting stored in your browser that remembers whether you chose light or dark mode.
- Stripe sets its own cookies on its secure checkout pages to process payments and prevent fraud.
Analytics and advertising (only with your consent)
Google Analytics. We use Google Analytics, through Google Tag Manager, to understand how the site is used and to improve it. You can stop Google Analytics using your data with the Google Analytics opt-out add-on.
Google AdSense and other advertising partners. TechAnnouncer is supported by advertising. Third-party vendors, including Google, use cookies to serve ads based on your previous visits to this and other websites. Google’s advertising cookies let it and its partners serve ads based on your visits to this site and other sites on the internet. You can turn off personalised advertising in Google Ads Settings, through aboutads.info or, in the UK and EU, through Your Online Choices. Other ad networks may also serve ads on this site; where they offer an opt-out, you can use it on their websites. Consent. For visitors in the UK and European Economic Area, in line with Google’s EU User Consent Policy, we ask for your consent through our cookie banner before setting analytics or advertising cookies or using your data for personalised advertising. You can change or withdraw your consent at any time through the cookie settings link on the site or in your browser settings.
Articles may include content embedded from other websites, such as videos or social media posts. Embedded content behaves as if you had visited that website, and its own privacy policy applies.
6. Automated checks and artificial intelligence
Publishing checks. When you publish, our system automatically checks your post against our editorial standards. It looks at length, the number and type of links, image limits, and wording that suggests promotional or high-risk content such as investment, crypto or lending offers. Posts that pass can go live straight away. Posts that are flagged are held for review by a member of our editorial team, and only a person can decline a post. The checks may label a post as sponsored content. If you think a label or decision is wrong, contact us and an editor will look at it.
Other AI-assisted tools. We may use AI-based tools to support spam detection, security, analytics, ad delivery (including Google’s automated ad systems) and editorial work. Editorial and business decisions remain under human oversight. We do not make decisions about you based solely on automated processing that have legal or similarly significant effects.
No AI training on your personal data. We do not sell, license or otherwise make your personal data available for training third-party AI models. This includes your account, newsletter, enquiry, media library and billing data.
AI crawlers and scraping. Automated access by AI crawlers, scrapers or agents is governed by our Terms of Use and robots directives. Content on the site, including any personal data in it, may not be collected for AI training or similar purposes without our prior written agreement.
7. Who we share data with
We share personal data only with service providers that act on our instructions and protect it under contract:
- Stripe: payments, subscriptions, invoices and tax handling.
- Brevo: delivery of account emails and newsletters.
- Kinsta and Google Cloud: website hosting, security and content delivery.
- Microsoft 365: our business email and correspondence.
- Google: analytics and advertising, as described in section 5.
- Spam-detection and security services.
Published articles are also distributed to news services and search engines, such as Apple News and Bing, so that readers can find them. We may disclose data where the law requires it, or to protect our rights or the safety of others. If our business or this website is ever sold or reorganised, personal data may be transferred to the new owner under this policy.
8. International transfers
Some of our providers process data outside the UK, including in the United States and the European Economic Area. Where they do, the transfer is protected by UK-approved safeguards, such as adequacy regulations, the UK Extension to the EU–US Data Privacy Framework, or the International Data Transfer Agreement or Addendum.
9. How long we keep your data
- Account and profile data: while your account is open. After you close it, we delete or anonymise it within 90 days, except for the records listed below.
- Published content: it stays on TechAnnouncer as part of the public record after your membership ends, unless it is removed under our Terms of Use. Drafts and unused media library images are deleted when your account is closed.
- Financial records: six years, as UK law requires.
- Newsletter data: until you unsubscribe. After that, we keep only a suppression record so we don’t email you again.
- Enquiries and correspondence: up to 24 months after the matter is concluded.
- Comments: for as long as the related article is published.
- Security logs: usually no longer than 12 months.
10. Your rights
You have the right to access, correct or delete your personal data, to receive a copy of it, to restrict or object to how we use it, and to withdraw consent at any time. You can update most of your details yourself in your account, and you can unsubscribe from any newsletter with the link in each email. To exercise any other right, or to close your account, email privacy@techannouncer.com. We will reply within one month, free of charge.
If you’re unhappy with how we handle your data, please tell us first so we can put it right. You also have the right to complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO).
11. Children
TechAnnouncer is a business publication. Accounts and paid services are only for people aged 18 or over, and we do not knowingly collect personal data from children.
12. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. The date at the top shows the latest version. If we make significant changes, we will highlight them on this page and, where appropriate, email account holders.
