Best Wi-Fi Router for Small Scale Businesses

Published

on

Gone are the days when simple voice calls were the only way of co-coordinating business projects. Today, almost every enterprise or corporate house relies on the Internet to run its business. This does not come as a surprise since technology has advanced to a large extent and almost every field is welcoming this change.

Most companies either opt for Ethernet connections or wireless Wi-Fi routers. However, an Ethernet connection is comparatively expensive and also less convenient than a Wi-Fi router. The former involves installing cables to connect a specific device to the Internet. Therefore, multiple devices cannot gain Internet access like in the case of a Wi-Fi connection. On the other hand, having a Wi-Fi connection is more cost-effective and enables connection of several devices to the network conveniently. This is particularly beneficial if you have a small scale business, and thereby a limited number of employees.

Wi-Fi router to meet your business needs

Successful businesses believe in harnessing the power of the Internet to facilitate growth. You can also strengthen the quality of your services by ensuring that your business relies on the Web to help it succeed. This could involve anything from sending across project drafts to your clients to even promoting your company on social media. However, for this purpose, you will need a Wi-Fi router that has a high performance level.

Features your office router must have

A few striking features about a Wi-Fi router, such as its wireless standard could help you make the right choice. Pick a device that has a standard of 802.11b/g/n, since this is supported by most wireless devices. Data transfer has been proven to be extremely fast on a router that offers this standard. Additionally, check if it also has extra features like a separate USB port. This will enable quick file transferring in office. MicroSD card slots are important when investing in a router and you must ensure that your router offers at least 2 GB internal storage and 4 GB ROM. Another point to take into consideration when purchasing a Wi-Fi hotspot device for your office is the wireless frequency. Most devices are compatible with the 2.4GHz frequency and therefore connect seamlessly with such routers, as opposed to 5GHz band routers, which are mainly compatible with only new devices. Moreover, routers with a wireless frequency of 2.4GHz offer signal coverage to a wider area and the connectivity does not get affected despite barriers like walls.

Popular Wi-Fi routers

There are routers by leading brands like Netgear, TP-Link, Reliance Jio, and Airtel available in the market. Hotspot devices by Airtel and Jio have experienced a growing user base in India mainly because of their performance and affordability. They operate on 4G cellular network and are even easy to carry along when traveling. Small scale businesses will mainly benefit since devices like the JioFi by Jio can even connect to a maximum of 32 devices. However, the one by Airtel is designed to offer connectivity to 10 devices. Both these hotspot devices can be used by opting for a data tariff plan. The one by Jio currently comes with the complimentary Jio Happy New Year Offer, which will offer free 4G in India data services till 31st March 2017. The Airtel one, on the other hand, has a 3 GB data plan starting from Rs. 450.

Contrary to popular belief, Wi-Fi set-up is no longer complicated. 4G Wi-Fi hotspot devices are easy to activate and use. Besides, they connect up to 10 or more devices depending on the brand. The best part about these routers is their compact shape and portability. In this way, you can easily position the device in your office in such a way, that it distributes the signal uniformly.
