How Robotic Technology Transformed Industrial Manufacturing
Industrial manufacturing has been the backbone of society and a process that humanity has relied upon for some time. It has kept our economy thriving and provides jobs for many people. Since the advent of robotics, industrial manufacturing has seen an evolution and it seems that it will only continue to advance. Processes that once took a significant amount of time and that impacted profits and productivity have now been augmented to increase efficiency on all fronts. With the rise of technology in our lives we will see an increase in manufacturing productivity in many sectors but this also begs the question: “What is left for humanity after the robots have taken over?”
Before industrial manufacturing as we know it today was enhanced by mechanical means, everything was done via human labor. Humans would clock in and create machinery and parts with the help of tools or larger machines. This largely also involved human error and incidences of work-related accidents which are now avoided for the most part due to automation. With the creation and introduction of the computer into manufacturing, precision, and efficiency became primary tools to complete projects. Car manufacturers, machine parts, and plane parts manufacturers, just to name a few, have benefited from reduced accidents and human error.
However, there is still a need for humans in the industrial manufacturing field. Humans are still at the heart of manufacturing processes, even though robots have taken over the heavy lifting. People are needed to put in calculations, calibrate, repair machiner, and administer quality control of the final products. Even though robotics has entered the workforce, jobs are still not fully automated by machinery. Humans are still a very vital and important part of the workforce. What is most important is that humans and technology work together to achieve goals and move forward into the future.
Machines have helped improve our lives and when it comes to the manufacturing industry, this is an indisputable fact. Using tools to make life easier has always been a defining characteristic of humanity. Even from the very start, the invention of the wheel helped people to traverse large distances that were unfathomable without it and made life easier for early humanity. Today, we have evolved the first tools of humanity into machines that can make our lives easier and much like the wheel, they have helped to make what was previously impossible a reality.
Robotic technology has been a revelation in our modern age. It has helped advance our society and economy, allowing for greater productivity and advantages to help us move more swiftly into the future. Although there are those who are fearful of where our society may go if we invite technology too far into our daily lives, it’s been proven time and time again that working with technology has yielded great results for humans. Information on this change and where we may go in the future is very easy to find. A bright future awaits us as humans and technology work together to make all of our lives better.
