In the early days, I worked on a variety of projects across multiple industry sectors, and it was during those initial experiences that I realized the true potential of SAP solutions to optimize supply chains and create a real impact for organizations. Sherryl: You have led numerous greenfield implementation projects. What would you say are the biggest challenges and rewards of working on such projects?

Indrajit Zope: Greenfield implementations are always challenging because they require you to build something from scratch. You need to have a clear vision, a strong understanding of the client’s needs, and the ability to translate those needs into a scalable system. The challenges often lie in aligning multiple stakeholders, managing expectations, and ensuring that the solution is future-proof. But the rewards are immense. When you see a system that you helped design and build come to life, bringing value to the client and helping them achieve their strategic goals, it’s extremely fulfilling. It’s like watching your ideas take shape in a very real and impactful way.

Sherryl: What sets you apart when it comes to leading large-scale SAP rollouts and support projects?

Indrajit Zope: I think my versatility and hands-on approach play a significant role. I’ve been involved in both greenfield projects and rollouts, and I understand the nuances of each type of project. Rollouts are all about expanding an existing solution to new regions or divisions, which means you need to balance consistency with localization. Each rollout has its own set of challenges, especially when you’re dealing with different regulatory environments and diverse business processes. I’ve always prioritized having an in-depth understanding of both the business and technical aspects, which helps me ensure that projects run smoothly and that the client’s needs are met effectively.

Sherryl: You were part of Wipro’s P2P Competency Ace team and worked on multiple RFPs. What was your experience like in that role, and how did it help you grow as a consultant?

Indrajit Zope: Being part of Wipro’s P2P Competency Ace team was a fantastic experience. Working on RFPs required me to provide a clear vision for prospective clients—everything from understanding their pain points to designing a solution and presenting a detailed project plan. This experience was invaluable in honing my skills in solution design, cost estimation, and communicating value propositions. It helped me understand how to effectively convey the potential impact of SAP solutions and ensured that I was always looking at projects from the client’s perspective, understanding their unique needs and challenges.

Sherryl: In today’s rapidly changing digital landscape, how important is the role of technology in transforming supply chains?

Indrajit Zope: Technology is at the heart of supply chain transformation. Today’s supply chains are more complex than ever, and companies need to be agile to respond to rapidly changing market conditions. SAP solutions help organizations gain visibility, improve decision-making, and optimize operations end-to-end. The digital landscape is evolving, and with the integration of AI, machine learning, and advanced analytics, supply chains can become even more efficient and predictive. It’s about creating smarter workflows and ensuring that companies are ready to face any disruptions. I’m very passionate about helping my clients leverage these technologies to not only address current challenges but also to future-proof their operations.

Sherryl: Looking back at your career, what are you most proud of, and what advice would you give to someone aspiring to enter this field?

Indrajit Zope: I’m most proud of the projects where I’ve been able to make a real difference for my clients—whether it’s reducing operational costs, increasing efficiency, or helping them scale their operations. Seeing the tangible impact of my work is what keeps me motivated. For anyone aspiring to enter this field, my advice would be to always stay curious. The technology landscape is constantly changing, and you need to be willing to learn and adapt. Building a strong foundation in both the technical and business aspects of SAP is crucial, but equally important is listening to your clients and truly understanding their needs. Consulting is as much about people as it is about technology.

Sherryl: Finally, what’s next for you? Do you have any specific goals or projects on the horizon?

Indrajit Zope: I’m always looking for new opportunities to drive innovation and create value for clients. One area I’m particularly interested in is leveraging AI and machine learning within supply chain processes to make them more proactive and responsive. I’m also passionate about mentoring the next generation of consultants, helping them navigate the complexities of the field and grow in their careers. The journey so far has been incredible, and I’m excited about what lies ahead.

Sherryl: Thank you so much, Indrajit, for sharing your journey and insights with us. It was a pleasure speaking with you.

Indrajit Zope: Thank you. It’s been great to reflect on the journey and share my experiences. I appreciate the opportunity.
