Media

In general, media refer to the various communication channels or resources used to deliver and store data or information. The word is typically used in association with mass communication, including print media, broadcast media, television, radio, music, film, advertising, and digital media. Media can be used to describe any medium used to transmit information and influence decision-making. For example, print media includes newspapers, magazines, periodicals, books, and other printed publications.

Print media were among the first communication channels used, and have developed a stronghold on the market share over the years. With the evolution of the internet, news and other information can spread rapidly, and in an instantaneous manner. The impact of print media is far-reaching, with even aspects such as education and entertainment being impacted. This is because newspapers, magazines, and other print publications normally maintain strong editorial integrity, unlike television and radio which are popular for their entertainment value, rather than for their informative value. Online newspapers and magazines are growing in popularity, as well.

One major type of media is periodicals, which are primarily focused on a particular topic or industry. The most prominent in this category are periodicals related to travel and tourism, business, science/technology, and entertainment/entertainment. Although this type of media usually covers a narrower audience, it is by far the most widely distributed and accessible form of media. Major periodicals include travel, health, and leisure magazines.

Electronic media include print, broadcast, and online mediums such as blogging, social networking, and wikis. Electronic media are typically associated with organizations, such as radio, television, newspapers, magazines, and internet providers. These media can deliver the same or different content, depending on its audience. It can also deliver a message quickly and effectively across wide geographical areas, unlike the print media. Major electronic media include magazines, newspapers, magazines, blogs, and social networks.

Mass media are those that are delivered by broadsheets and tabloids. These mediums are used for news and information dissemination, especially to the general public. Newspapers, periodicals, radio, and television play a vital role in disseminating information to large numbers of people. Although mass media tend to focus on a particular topic and storyline, they also provide entertainment by covering various entertainment-related events, celebrities, and sports. They are usually delivered to the masses through print media.

These are just some of the major forms of communication media. However, there are many other forms of media that can be categorized. These include electronic media such as blogs, social media like Facebook, and radio and TV shows among others. As technology evolves, new forms of media will continually emerge to serve their purpose. However, mass media is still dominant in most instances due to their huge audience, fast action, and immediate feedback that enhances communication.
