Gifts

A gift is a tangible product given to somebody without any expectation of exchange or payment. An object is not normally a gift, even if that object is already owned by somebody to whom it’s given. However, gift-giving may involve some expectation of compensation, either express or implied. For example, if you buy somebody a cup of coffee when he or she said they were too tired to have coffee, that would be considered a gift. Gifts are intended to be given with the intention of receiving something in return, either material (such as money) or non-material (such as a kind thought).

Gift-giving has become more predominant during the last couple of years because of the increased prevalence of social media. Today, most people use social media to communicate and to share information about everything from work, to hobbies, to photos and memories. On the other hand, it’s also possible to give gifts online.

What’s unique about gifts now? It seems that most of us send gifts, no matter what the occasion – from birthdays to anniversaries, to Valentine’s Day, Mother’s Day, and Father’s Day. So what makes a good gift? It’s often hard for many of us to find the ideal present for somebody. Some things that we think are great for the person are actually less appreciated by them. This makes it important to choose gifts carefully, preferably symbolic of things the giver enjoys.

Giving

One example of a very popular kind of gift for teenagers today is stickers and mini tattoos. Stickers are a great way to get a teenager interested in things he might never have considered before, like video games and music. While they might not appreciate the full meaning behind the words on the sticker, at least they’ll have something to smile about. Mini tattoos can be placed on specific body parts to show off a certain element or characteristic.

Interpreting Tongues When people hear the name “interpreter”, they automatically think of someone doing stage magic. While stage magic is entertaining for people who enjoy seeing magic acts perform, interpreters’ gifts are much more practical. Different interpreters have different gift descriptions, such as prophecy, interpreter of dreams, and interpreters of scripture.

Interpreters and gift-givers can share several similar characteristics. They love the Lord and want to share his gift with others. They are generous and willing to give to others even if they feel their gift isn’t appreciated right away. Givers who give interpreter gifts often share their blessings with the giver, which is why many churches prefer to give gifts with an “interpreter” attached to them.
