Solar Technologies cover a broad spectrum of new techniques and equipment for harnessing the energy from the sun. Solar technology uses the light from the sun to create electricity, heat, or both. Solar technologies transform the sun’s energy into electric current either by use of photovoltaic solar panels or by mirrors that concentrate sunlight. This captured energy is then used to produce electricity using generators or batteries or thermal collectors. A variety of different applications for solar technologies are available.

Solar photovoltaic is one of the many solar technologies to make electricity. It harnesses heat from the sun to produce electricity which can power a household. Solar collectors are another variety of photovoltaic. These collection systems absorb sunlight and transform it into electric energy which can then be used for heating water or air conditioning. Some of the systems are so well insulated they can actually work on cloudy days.

Solar thermal is another branch of solar technologies to harness sunlight. This technique uses mirrors to change the amount of direct sunlight into heat energy. The heated energy is then used to heat water or air. These systems work best in hot climates where sunlight is abundant.

Solar generators harness the power of thermal energy. They use an array of thin sheets of glass or plastic to catch the sunlight and convert it into electricity. These types of systems work best in remote locations where sunlight is abundant. Although solar power has some drawbacks such as insufficient sunlight, there are other renewable energy sources that can meet our energy needs and provide a cheaper source of electricity.

Solar

Solar technologies in the area of photovoltaics have developed steadily over the past several decades. Photovoltaics is the most widely researched of all solar technologies. It involves the use of charged particles to create energy using the heat of the sun. The photovoltaic system converts sunlight into electricity by using photovoltaic panels or wafers.

Another type of solar technology uses light to create energy. One example of this technology is the solar water heater. This works by using heat from the sun to boil water and generate heat energy that can be transferred to home space heating systems. Many homes today are heated with this method as a primary energy source because it is extremely reliable and low maintenance.

The final solar energy technologies we will discuss use the energy given off by the sun to boil water. This solar technology heats the water before it is used so it does not have to be stored like the other solar energy technologies. However, this type of technology must have direct access to a lot of suns in order to work properly. It is also important to note that direct sunlight will not give you the amount of energy needed to heat your entire home.

All of the solar technologies discussed above can either be fixed to a home or can be installed on a building to provide electricity for a home. For instance, a home can have a small solar hot water system that uses solar collectors to collect the sun’s heat and store it. Then a concentrating solar power technology array would be installed to heat the water and produce electricity. Of all the solar technologies discussed, the photovoltaic panel is the most efficient. Photovoltaic panels use mirrors to focus the sun’s light on a photovoltaic cell, which is then multiplied by electrical energy. This method of producing electricity is the most efficient and relies on free energy from the sun.
