A cell phone, cellular phone, or simply cell phone, cell or simply handphone, sometimes shortened to just cell phone or hand, can simply make and receive calls on a conventional radio frequency network while the individual is moving over a phone service frequency. Cell phone users are able to do this even if their hands are in the air at the same time. Cell phones are designed to automatically pick up a signal from an agreed-upon area that is within a certain range of the device. The range can vary depending upon the type of device as well as other factors such as weather conditions. Many individuals who use cell phones would agree that their use is becoming more common throughout many parts of the world.

Cell phones allow individuals to stay in touch with loved ones who may be located in a different part of the country, even if they do not have access to a landline phone. In some cases, there may be situations when a cell phone is required by law such as a peace officer. In this situation, a cell phone would be an effective method of communication for these individuals. There are many people who use their cell phones for making and receiving calls while driving and in some cases, there may even be situations where passengers or the driver may need to make a call. In this case, using a cell phone is a convenient way to keep in contact with loved ones or those back home.

The typical cell phones today are very easy to operate and are capable of providing users with the features that they need for daily living. Cell phones that are purchased by teenagers are typically simple devices that allow them to surf the Internet, send e-mails, text other individuals and use other basic functions that most cell phones provide. Cell phones that are used by older individuals usually have much larger displays, larger keypads, and larger fonts. Some older cell phones also include a camera that allows the user to take photographs, videos and to use them for some basic communication purposes.

Cell phone users can choose to use pay-per-minute plans where the amount of time that the user will be charged for using their cell phone is limited. Most cell phones provide the user with a limited number of call minutes each month and they can either buy additional minutes or use their already provided minutes to call more numbers. Pay as you go cell phones often come with a two-year plan where the user pays a fixed monthly fee for a specific amount of time. This type of cell phone is usually found at pharmacies, mobile phone shops, and other outlets. Pay as you go cell phones may also be used in conjunction with auto-pay systems at some pharmacies.

Pay as you go cell phones that are prepaid are considered to be more reliable than other types of cell phone plans. When a customer desires to purchase more minutes, they simply use a credit card to make a purchase, and then they have to show proof of ID to retrieve the purchased minutes. Pay as you go cell phones are becoming more popular among teens who want a phone that is affordable and easy to use. With the ever-increasing cell phone usage in this country, service providers continue to increase the rates that are charged for using cell phones.

Cell phone usage has increased so much in the United States that cell phone service providers have created a plethora of new and exciting cell phones that cater to every need and desire of its users. People of all ages can now use cell phones for communication and entertainment purposes. Cell phones are here to stay.
