During the development of the early civilizations, ancient technology was mostly the outcome of advancements in science in ancient days. These technological advancements in the history of science stimulated new societies to embrace new means of governance and living. This process of societal transformation brought along with it new ideas and concepts that shaped the society of that era. Among these ideas were such as the use of metals and alloys for different purposes, different methods of farming and harvesting crops, the development of towns and cities, and even the development of writing as a form of currency. The development of such amazing technologies in the early times gave birth to new and wondrous things that have shaped civilization into what it is today.

One of the most influential periods in the history of mankind’s technological advancements is the period of the Ancient Egyptians. Their development of such astonishing technologies is well-known through the writings of their great pharaohs who happened to be some of the greatest pharaohs in the 7th century B.C. The Egyptian empire is considered to be one of the first organized nations on Earth. And their greatest achievements in their architectural practices can be seen through the structures of their pyramids and the colossal temples that they built.

The Arab world also had an extraordinary presence in the realm of ancient technology. Some of their most developed and best inventions came from this part of the world. The most important inventions of this era were the Arabic language which was used for communications, clocks, and navigation devices, the camels which helped in transportation, and the concept of algebra which was used for mathematics. All these concepts made possible the development of what we call the Arab world and paved the way for other civilizations to follow.

The Ancient Greeks were among the first civilizations in the world to develop large-scale irrigation systems that helped them to grow food and feed their inhabitants. These ancient technologies gave way to what we call modern irrigation systems which are still in use today. In the 4th century B.C., Hippocrates, a native of the island of Athens developed an extensive medical system based upon the teachings of Greek mythology. One of his discoveries was the theory of anatomy wherein he explained how the body functions.

Another great ancient technology that has continued to influence the lives of people even up to the present day is Roman technology. This was brought about by the acquisition of foreign trade which resulted in the spread of Roman civilization all over the world. When the Roman Empire fell to the hands of the Germanic tribe of the Franks, the Romans lost all their possessions and were forced to seek out new neighbors. They soon learned that they would need to be able to produce weapons in order to protect themselves and their home territories. The first known weapon to be used in battle was the archers. In the long history of warfare, this became one of the most influential and sophisticated pieces of ancient technologies.

The Romans were not the only ones who made use of Greek technology though. Egyptians also made use of Greek technology in building such as colossal Pyramids. Both of these ancient technologies gave way to much modern technology today which is now used in every corner of the world. The Greeks and the Egyptians did not give up their innovative and remarkable discoveries without reason. They were so determined to continue using and innovating such ancient technologies and eventually became the greatest civilization of all time.
